19-Year-Old Shot At Long Island Intersection

A teenager was hospitalized on Long Island after being shot while being driven through a busy intersection, police said.

Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating a shooting that happened shortly before 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 3 in Deer Park.

According to investigators, a 19-year-old passenger in a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu was shot at the intersection of Bayshore Road and Commack Road. Police officers were able to stop the vehicle shortly after the shooting and the teen was transported to an area hospital by paramedics.

Police said that the teen - whose identity has not been released - is being treated for “serious injuries.” It is unclear what led to the shooting.
